Effective vision and strategic planning in support of new or existing programs and services

Challenges that we face are often opportunities yet to be fulfilled. The EMY & associates approach has been built on years of successful experiences and accomplishments. This sampling of accomplishments includes complex program and service development as well as programs and services with a positive twist that achieved goals sought. Many of these ventures were new; some were in the “needed to be fixed” category.

• Co-authored study and recommendations for creating Baltimore County Department of Aging

• Developed Villa Julie College's first full-time comprehensive Career Center

• Developed Baltimore County's Office of Family Resources which coordinated Health and Human Services in County Government, as well as, broader community relationships/ partnerships

• Developed Liberty and Eastern comprehensive, multi-agency, one-stop, Family Resource Centers. These Human Resource sites served thousands of Baltimore County citizens

• Vision, developed, chaired Baltimore County Senior Expo

• Chaired, facilitated implementation of Baltimore County Court Liaison Program

• Vision, developed Baltimore County Senior Employment Service

• Facilitated development of Baltimore County Network Support System-Computerized Multi-Agency Client Tracking System

The approach taken in all of these endeavors:

• Pro-active - always start with a “fresh eye”, a winning perspective that fosters a “this can be done” or “this can be fixed” attitude

• Elicit ideas - listen and hear ideas that are often there but have not yet surfaced

• Collaboration - a mindset and approach that bring about both buy-in and a fuller more successful outcome

• Vision and creativity - that generates ideas and practical solutions that have not been considered or envisioned

• Realize that the use of “process” is often a positive means to achievement

• Include win/win partnerships and relationship building that support the vision and goals sought

• Develop new programs and services that are both pro-active and responsive to your clients’ and constituents’ needs

• Develop and use consensus building processes where appropriate

• Develop strategies to enhance partnership collaboration and involvement
